Day 38…Thanks to Our Dedicated Team!

As this Fall 40 Days for Life campaign comes to its conclusion on Sunday, we may be tempted to doubt the effectiveness of our sidewalk counseling and praying.  I believe that every Campaign, and the year-round 40 Days/365, sows seeds that do bear fruit.  Evidence of the fruit is not just in the news of “saves” during the campaigns, but, also, stories years later of women who thank us for being there years before, because our presence encouraged them to choose Life for their pre-born child.   And, sometimes, they even introduce us to their child which was saved from destruction.

The seeds that we sow are many- the prayers we pray, the counseling conversations, the “Free Help” cards handed out, the fetal model display, and the signs we hold.  Who knows how many consciences are pricked and how many hearts are touched? Our prayerful presence does make a difference, even if we don’t know it at the time.  Seeds we plant in hearts and minds, by our prayers and sidewalk counseling, do bear fruit! Some of these seeds will fall on fertile ground- the woman, the father, relatives, or friends.  They can help save a little life in a womb.

PP does not shut down after our Campaign is over.  Please consider praying on the sidewalk with us year-round with 40 Days for Life/365.  Just send Jen an email at pghsaland365@gmail.com and let her know when you’re available.  Your ongoing witness is important, whether it be for ½ an hour, an hour, or more, each week. We are His hands and feet.  Let us answer His call.

“A farmer went out to sow his seed.  And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, where it was trampled, and the birds of the air devoured it.  Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the seedlings withered because they had no moisture.  Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the seedlings.  Still other seed fell on good soil, where it sprang up and produced a crop- a hundredfold.  As Jesus said this, He called out, “He who has ears ought to hear, let him hear.”  Luke 8:5-8

Greg

(From Joe) – A beautiful morning, but difficult, as many women seeking abortion walked through deaths door into PP. Greg fought valiantly for each and every soul. I admire his tenacity, humility and his great capacity to love his neighbor. Peace of the Lord be with every participant and their families!!!

(from Greg) It was pretty busy this morning on the 8 to 9 AM shift. Joe reported that at least five women had gone in before I got there. Glynn, the guard, our good Buddy, had let the women  before they opened as opposed to his normal practice of letting them stand outside on the sidewalk. After that, it was pretty quiet for a while. The 9 to 10 shift then got normal type of traffic. I was able to speak to one Hispanic woman, who at first didn’t know what I was offering, but when she opened up the brochure and saw that it was about babies, she was very happy and exclaimed, “thank you!”And then she asked for another brochure when she said “I have a friend.” I’m hopeful that maybe her friend will make use of our resources! I don’t think that woman was intending to go inside but I’m not sure, but I know she wasn’t pregnant.

Sidewalk anchors Kim and Kathy, with Pete from St. Bernard

(From Kathy) – Kim, myself, and Pete from St. Bernard’s in Peters Township. We offered prayers using Psalms 51, 136, and 94. Passed literature out mostly to passersby. One woman stopped to ask if we support social services that assist throughout the unborn child’s life.  As she escalated in her rant, Pete calmly listened to her and offered a few words.  She left angrily shouting at Pete an expletive. I also brought some hard boiled eggs to pass out to the homeless.  All were given away.  You know, in human physiology, a fertilized egg begins a new human life. We must work to have Congress pass a bill recognizing this fact so that abortion will become illegal and the unborn child will be protected under the 14th Amendment. MAIA:  Make Abortion Illegal Again

Betsy and Donna from the Mars area, with Mary Jane

A little on the busy side and I was unsuccessful offering brochures as young women entered PP but four women exiting accepted brochures. The highlight was when one young lady passer-by stopped to show us pics of her two children on her phone. As she started to leave, I asked her if I could give her a hug and she agreed and after we embraced, I sent her on her way with a thank you and God bless you.

(From Val) – Pretty quiet day.  Prayed with some of the homeless.  People in costumes passing by.  Only a few workers leaving today. On this All Hallows Eve…all you holy men and women pray for us.

  1. Surely the prayers and witnessing of our sidewalk warriors this Allhallowedtide are heard in heaven. May they spare the lives of many Holy Innocents. God bless you.
