Day 39…Thanks to Corpus Christi Parish & Our Wonderful Volunteers!

Several years ago at a local university, Captain Guy Gruters, a lesser known occupant of the infamous Hanoi Hilton, (John McCain was the better known one.), delivered a moving lecture.

He explained how the chain of command was established within the camp among the U.S. POW’s. Whichever soldier claimed the earliest enlistment date, that individual became their leader. Rank had nothing to do with it. A soldier might think to himself, “HIM?!?”, but that was the rule and ALL of them followed it.

His point was this, remaining obedient came with blessings. The soldiers would come to see that in their trying experience there in the hardships of the camp. Captain Gruters was trying to impress upon the crowd of listeners that GOD BLESSES OBEDIENCE.

We are now at the close of another 40Days Season. I’m wondering if some of you are feeling a prompting to get a little more involved? Are you fighting against a push to show up at the sidewalk more often than twice a year? Can you, in all honesty, afford to commit and are talking yourself out of it? Is God asking you to serve Him where His most vulnerable are being slaughtered?

IF you OBEY His request, you will be BLESSED! Our crew of sidewalk advocates can guarantee you that!

(From Tim) – Another Special Blessing morning starting with the abortion mill being closed the entire shift, however escorts/workers started arriving at the end. We also had a great example of yesterday’s reflection on planting seeds when a 20 something young man scurried past us, stopped abruptly, looked at us and our signs, then at pp and then made the sign of the cross. Please keep planting seeds.

Dedicated parishioners from Corpus Christi including Jim and Audrey

(From Dean) – In general, they were noticeably less busy for a Saturday. Judy was able to get support material to some folks that were exiting Planned Parenthood today.

Rosa, Anthony and James

(from Kathy) – Rosa,Anthony, from Canonsburg and James from Butler. blessed this shift with prayers. Rosa was a first timer and offered Spanish if needed. James gave a powerful witness on his knees in prayer. An older lady stopped and stared at baby models for long time. She said she was in spiritual counseling then left . A prayer against spiritual darkness was said. Only one woman went in to pp , she came out crying within minutes. There was a strong police presence about a block away. Unsure what was happening, we prayed for police safety.

(From Mary) – Our shift was mostly quiet, no one entered PP during that time and employees were leaving by 4. We were praying the divine mercy chaplet when an elderly man approached Billy after looking at the signs and peppered him with questions regarding the abortion pill, procedure, why he was here, what did he believe, etc etc. Fortunately Billy really knew his stuff and didn’t buckle under pressure, as I would have, so I thank God for leading him to Billy and not me! The man let us know that he was pro abortion but was respectful and the conversation was long and I think fruitful, giving him something to think about. There wasn’t much traffic on the sidewalk as it was turning cold and blustery, but I was able to give out some literature.

  1. God bless our sidewalk witnesses for their prayers and faith in action today. You warmed that cold place on this chilly day with God’s Word and love. Thank you for good works.
