Day 35…Thanks to St. Matthew Parish, St. Peter Parish in Steubenville, St. Matthias Parish & our faithful 40 Days for Life Team!

A Proportional Response…

933 Liberty Ave. kills about 70 babies a week. Week in, week out. They’ll kill today, tomorrow, and the next day. Apparently that’s not enough killing for society at large to take any notice. But a few people do take notice. A few people think that 1 killing is worthy of a response, let alone 70 every week.

If you are reading this, you are in some way one of those people. You want something done about this detestable genocide of innocents. May God bless you for your compassion!

Whatever your level of involvement in this cause, I would like to encourage you to take the next step. If you’ve been following the campaign from home, try to make it to the vigil this last week. People witness for life year round, 5-6 days a week in front of Planned Parenthood. If you are a regular during 40 Days, consider joining them, if even once a month. You won’t be there alone. Attend the upcoming Sidewalk Advocates training (flyer below) if you feel called to engage wayward abortion clients in lifesaving conversation. Email me at andrewSAFLPGH@protonmail.com to get involved year-round.

As people who understand the abominable nature of abortion, we must be willing to respond in proportion to its gravity. Ask yourself what that response looks like for you. I’m going to bet (and I’m a very risk-averse person) that if each individual who receives this blog committed to come and pray outside of Planned Parenthood just once a month, there would be major positive developments in Pittsburgh’s fight for life.

In Nazi Poland, it was an automatic death sentence to help a Jew. But many did, regardless of the risk. We pro-lifers are not yet facing that level of persecution, but we are dealing with mass murder on a greater scale than anything else in history. What is your proportional response?

Andrew

Two couples and three young ladies entered along with a bunch of staff during our time on the sidewalk. One couple seemed open and kindly took my literature. I tell you, sometimes that one small polite gesture can just carry me through the rest of the shift! It’s refreshing to find civility isn’t dead. They entered nonetheless but I felt they’d probably be checking out the pamphlet I gave them.

Bill, Anthony and I were kept company by parishioners from my parish, St. Peter’s, of Steubenville. Shawn and Beth arrived early and Laura and family showed up a little later. It’s always wonderful to have beautiful children join us! Tracy

Anthony was finishing the rosary and our friends from Steubenville were finishing their shift when we arrived. Not many clients during our 2 hours but we were able to give the OptionLine Spanish phone number to a young woman leaving PP. Apparently she wanted  help with her baby and she probably thought Planned Parenthood helped parents. Talk about false advertising.  Thanks to Bill and Tracy for setting up all equipment. It’s nice to know they’ll be with us all year round. Next week, 930 to 1130am. Join us anytime.

The traffic into the clinic wasn’t very heavy today. There was another convention in town, so our prolife messages were seen by a lot of convention attendees.

While we had the usual loud and angry pro-choice passers-by, we had an equal amount of pro-lifers who support what we do; that is always refreshing!

Sandi from Steubenville came and prayed the rosary, and I’m sorry that I forgot to get a photo of her.

Here is a picture of our two prayer warriors, Jenny and Michelle. It was their first time praying in front of PP.  They are from St Matthias Parish, Greene County.  The beginning of our shift was a little rough with a woman screaming at us and then a man walked by yelling he was Satan.   Luckily after that the rest of the vigil was peaceful.  There was a tearful woman who stopped in front of us while we were praying, just listening to us pray.  I prayed over her in my heart.  She asked if I had any books I could give her to read.  I happened to have Praying with Saint Faustina book with me that I was able to give her.  We gave some apples away to some homeless as well.  We prayed three scriptural rosaries and one chaplet of divine mercy.  Michelle said she felt the Blessed Mother’s presence while we were praying and it was very calming.  They both said they want to come back again and more often!  Praise God!

There was heavy foot traffic on the street, but no couples or singles leaving with brown bags.  Several staff members seemed to leave earlier today, around 3:30-3:45, the security guard at 4 PM. A woman came by asking if the Little Lamb was open, she had left a sweater at a mtg she had attended there, shortly after she came by with the sweater, happy a girl was at Little Lamb. This gal spoke to a woman in a wheelchair, she also expressed concern to the security guard that there were children in the little Lamb shop.  Bill E. Walked down to the shop and saw that the girl was in the shop with young children ( school age)?

Two men walked into pp with a red microphone, they are from Munich Germany sent here for a week before the election. They spoke to myself and one of the other men, very interesting.
