Day 31…Thanks to Divine Redeemer Parish, St. Mark the Evangelist Parish, St. Matthew Parish, faithful team members, and friends who prayed with us!

Souls and Soles

When we’re praying and counseling on Liberty Avenue, our first priority is to save the life of the innocent pre-born child.  If we are not able to save the little one’s life, we know that her immortal soul will be in Heaven.  The healing help we offer the post-abortive woman can help to heal her spiritually- to save her soul so she goes to Heaven, where she will meet her child.  And the child will forgive her.

There’s only one week left in the Spring Campaign, but still time to put your “soles” on the pavement.  You just may save a life, and, even if you don’t, you will experience the uplifting of your soul by being God’s feet and hands to those who need to feel His love.

By your patient endurance you will gain your souls.”

Luke 21:19

“This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 2:3-4

SIDEWALK REPORTS

GREG: It was only a normal morning, about 3-4 couples going in the first hour. One woman going in took a brochure.  I did take an immigrant family down to show them Little Lamb, from the outside.  They were interested.

KATHY: A very unsettling shift beginning with the young 30s something guy who passed us pouring out expletives towards me, Randy, and Kim.  His behavior makes me think he has an abortion in his past.  Not long afterwards, another man going into pp declined resources. Although he said “hello” to me, he made it clear that he didn’t want any literature. And declined again on his second trip into building.

Into the second hour, Kim and I noticed a police presence near Bae Bae’s Kitchen.  Two people were handcuffed and sitting on the ground due to drug use.  A homeless man named Henry passed by informing us of the situation. About six women entered pp. None accepted literature.   Passersby did though.

Henry consented to having me call 211 for him for housing services and additional resources.

Fr. Brian of Divine Redeemer having an earnest discussion with a passerby.

KATIE: It was a very busy day on the sidewalk unfortunately, with Deborah from Holy Sepulchre parish previously, (although I can’t remember what parish she’s at now), along with several parishioners of St. James in Sewickley. We had a very long and circular conversation with a man who was in desperate need of a biology class and some common sense, but I was praying that something Fr. Brian said to him would continue to stick with him later. A couple supportive comments from passersby, and one other more disturbed man made an appearance, unfortunately BEFORE Fr Brian arrived, because what he clearly needed was much more in the priest territory than the other guy, who though very confused, seemed pretty harmless. He wasn’t as dramatic as a lot of them get, but hearing some of the things he was saying as we ignored him and talked to each other, it seemed like the type of situation in which laypeople are better off not engaging with. Sadly not much else noteworthy, but that’s only based on what we know, which of course is just a tiny part of the picture!
