Second Chances
Recently, I read an autobiographical article penned by a former young white supremacist, now turned devout Catholic. Ten years ago, he was in a totally different place in life. It was painful to read how his poor blind choice in his youth had come to blight his future after his grace-given turnaround. But, by God’s abundant love and the support of his faith, he continues to soldier on despite disappointment. I’ve made a point to buoy up him, and others like him, in my prayers!
His situation led me to think more about the staff at PP. I had heard rumors a few years ago that several disgruntled workers considered forming a union? That’s a sign that employees are discontented with the treatment they receive from their employer. Wasn’t it true, too, that PP’s recent downsizing had much to do with an employee shortage? Morale must be low. From our perspective on the sidewalk, NO worker walks through those doors happy to be there!
Can you imagine these employees at a party being asked what they do for a living? I can imagine them being somewhat vague or evasive. “ Er…..I work at a women’s health clinic in the city.” My guess is not one of them ever boldly states they are involved in the abortions of many, MANY babies there. Why? Because it’s dirty. It’s ugly. It’s barbaric. It’s WRONG! Even to pro-choice people, it brings about a graphic picture in our imaginations too horrific to dwell on! THAT reality has got to eat at them. How long can a person hold out in a job like that? Only the most hardened souls could maintain it for any great length of time. Over the years, we’ve seen A LOT of workers come and go.
My point is this. We are on the sidewalk primarily for the women and their babies, but let’s get more intense about the workers! They need help, too! If lack of them is partially responsible for PP’s downturn, let’s hammer harder. Pray and fast for them? When outside 933 Liberty Avenue, remember to extend Christ’s love to them. I’m hoping one day they will stand WITH us outside the yellow arch. I want them to know we’d welcome their company!
I believe in second chances!

We were blessed to have Father Joe join us from the start. He helped set up and led us in prayer. While pp was open it seemed that most or perhaps all who entered were attending a meeting.
We were also finally blessed with great weather.

(From Chris) – Jen, Nikki, here is the report for Saturday 3/7/2026, 11-1 shift: At the beginning of our shift, Kathy K. had some success with one couple who had exited Planned Parenthood to move their car. Both the man and woman listened to Kathy and engaged with her, and both took pro-life pamphlets. To my knowledge, they had not yet received any services from PP, and they did not return during our shift. Prayers for God to work on their hearts! For the rest of the shift, about 5 patrons entered and received services. They were not open to any pro-life alternatives.

(From Billy) – Hey guys when I got down to the clinic today there were 5 escorts I first was with Marc and Linda and then I was accompanied by Audrey and Jim from Corpus Christi and then my shift buddy Mary. Marc was also.trying to help the people going in From the time I got there a few women had gone in and we gave.a Latino family some brochures after Marc and Linda left. A few more people went in and Audrey was our fearless help trying to talk to the women. Around 2:45 to 3 the Planned Parenthood doors were locked and a few people were trying to go in. Mary talked with a girl about birth control and gave her a flyer. Today was a busy day and we had plenty of prayer

A wonderful idea to pray for the poor employees of PP. Yes, it would be wonderful to see a conversion of heart for them and to have them join us in saving babies’ lives instead of taking them. Lord Jesus, soften their hearts and minds. Jesus, Mary, I love you: save souls!
