Day 12…Thanks to Terrific Team Members!

This campaign has been pretty challenging for the team behind the scenes, trying to get the schedule filled and worrying about the health and morale of our most dedicated volunteers who are covering multiple shifts each week. It hasn’t been easy for anyone on the ground, either, with the roller coaster weather and the many distractions downtown. So I have to admit that I wasn’t very enthusiastic when it came time for my shift this morning. But the Holy Spirit sent little notes of encouragement just when I needed them!

The opening verse from today’s second reading was a shot in the arm:

Beloved:
Bear your share of hardship for the gospel
with the strength that comes from God.

2 Tim 1:8

And so was the prayer in today’s email from the 40 Days for Life national team:

Lord, help each of us overcome the temptation of discouragement. Give us the perseverance to follow your will and remember that you hear our prayers even when we don’t see the results. If it is your will, use us to save more lives than we will know in this lifetime. Amen.

No, this campaign isn’t easy; but it’s so important to act in the face of injustice and stand up for the lives of the unborn. May God grant us strength to keep doing His will even when we get tired, and consolation when our spirits are drooping!

Lots of unusual activity on Liberty early this morning…not what we’re used to. But that didn’t stop our amazing band of brother Knights from praying through all the mysteries of the Scriptural Rosary and a Chaplet of Divine Mercy! Thank you all for your faithful service!

Another brisk Sunday on the sidewalk but warm hearts and prayers from our shift to brighten the day. Shift partner Pat and my son Brendan prayed for the first two hours until Andrew and Marie relieved us for the noon shift.  Some nice thoughts and prayers from those passing by and then a vulgar comment from one man. It is always troubling that there is such a lack of civility and manners from a certain segment of society that have no problem using vulgar language in public.

The sunshine on the drive to town today was deceptive. It was chilly (and not sunny because of the buildings) on the sidewalk for the noon hour.

It was quiet with very little foot traffic down Liberty Avenue. Andrew and I prayed the Rosary for the unborn of our city. May God see fit to rid our city of this terrible place one day.

We know that it is not on our time but rather God’s timing. We are here to do what He calls us to do for the unborn and women who are vulnerable to the lie of abortion.

Marie

Charlie, Philine and Conrad. We prayed Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet.  Many passersby. Sunny day. Our Lady of Guadalupe was present.  It was good we were there. Strong witness for life.

“Lord, it is good that we are here.” Quite the meaningful report-comment from Conrad on this Transfiguration Sunday. I pray that someday we will be atop Mt. Tabor, adoring Lord Jesus in His glory along with all the aborted and saved babies for whom we prayed and witnessed. Although right now it feels as though we are atop another mount, Calvary, where crucifixion of our preborn brothers and sisters occurs almost every day, we know that it even though it feels like Friday, Sunday’s a-coming! Thank you to all who braved the chill to warm the darkness of Liberty Avenue with your prayers.
