Day 10…Thanks to St. Matthew Parish, faithful team members, and loving hearts who prayed with us today!

Whom do we pray for?

I know that a lot of us, when on the sidewalk, pray for the abortion doctors, the nurses, and the staff at PP.  We pray that they will recognize the evil they are doing and leave the abortion business.  Prayers are fervently prayed for the mothers and their pre-born children who enter the doors of the abortuary.  When passersby stop by and say kind words to us, sometimes they ask us to pray for them, or with them.  And we do.

There are others who are very hard to pray for and it’s even harder to forgive them.  For they are the ones who curse at us, spit toward us, knock over the fetal models, and knock our signs over.

About a month ago, a man cursed me unrelentingly for about 10 minutes.  Once he started, I remained silent, knowing that anything I said would probably just escalate the situation.

In the ensuing days I thought about this “interaction”- it affected me.  Then a thought, perhaps suggested by the Holy Spirit, entered my head.  What if God sends these people full of hate for us there, on purpose?  What if the reason he sends these people to us is that they are the ones in most need of love, forgiveness, and prayers?

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”  Matthew 5:44

But to those who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  Luke 6:27-28

SIDEWALK REPORTS

JOE: Spring arrived early today, and only 2 women went in for abortions (very sad,) much less than usual. I’ll count it as a blessing like the wonderful relationships we form with our brothers and sisters in arms.

Greg & I shared the sidewalk.  His energy & friendliness towards EVERYONE were inspirational!  Passers-by in their twenties who wouldn’t accept literature from me were glad to take it from Greg, after he had engaged them in upbeat conversation.  Mennonites on their way to a convention stopped and prayed for the mothers & babies, at Greg’s invitation.  A mother who passed by twice stopped to share with us how she had nearly aborted once but is SO glad now that her four children are all living.  She accepted literature to share with friends & indicated she might come back sometime to give the babies another voice!  (I pointed out to her that the babies NEED more defenders, especially ones with faces YOUNGER than mine!)

Sadly, there was a steady stream of victims entering the Death Doors all morning.  We tried to offer help and appeal for mercy to be shown to the little ones.

Katie & Bernie came for the next shift and were joined by a prayer-warrior.

Coming soon!

We thank God for this beautiful day that He blessed us with today! Donna & I were joined by our faithful friends; Beth, Bernadette and Mary Ann from St. Matthew’s Parish. There were a lot of great conversations and resource brochures shared. We also had a lot of encouragement today from passersby, a few fingers, and one angry man yelling from his truck. He said several not so nice things and told us no one wants us there. I pointed at the sign with the babies on it that were saved and said “these children are glad we are here”. We found out that PP will be closed tomorrow and praise God for that!Praying for all who walk by with disdain or jeers that they would have an encounter with Jesus, the one who loves them best because He created them.

Faithful St. Matthew parishioners, Beth, Bernadette and Mary Anne
These children are glad we are here!

  1. Andrew William Scales

I am excited to join my Fraternal Brothers tomorrow morning in prayer outside of PP.
In my opinion,If a Man and a Woman are sexually promiscuous they should us
contraception. It is still considered wrong, however,it’s better than abortion.

    1. Thank you for praying at the vigil tomorrow, Andrew! Regarding your comment about contraception, I understand why many people feel the same way you do. However, when birth control fails to prevent ovulation (which is not uncommon,) its second line of defense is to make the mother’s womb incapable of protecting the newly conceived child, resulting in the baby’s death. Even barrier methods without abortafacient properties contribute to the idea that people can have sex even when they are not ready to have children, which makes people see a child conceived at the “wrong” time as a problem to be dealt with.

    2. According to Guttmacher, MORE contraception (especially the failure- prone ones, such as condoms and the pill- with “real life” rates of 9 to 20%) results in MORE abortions. PP has perfected the most demonic business model imaginable- sexualize children, convince them there is such a thing as “safe sex”, and reap the financial benefits while killing living growing human beings…

  2. Documentation of what Jen rightly said about the abortifacient effects of IUDs & hormonal “birth control” drugs can be found at OneMoreSoul.com. One More Soul is also an excellent source of info on modern Natural Family Planning.

  3. Saturday 1st week of Lent

    Behold, now is a very acceptable time;
behold, now is the day of salvation.

    Gospel
    Matthew 5:43-48
    Jesus said to his disciples:
“You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies,
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers and sisters only,
    what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
