This One’s for Charlie

Dear 40 Days for Life family in Pittsburgh,

Today we are all mourning the senseless murder of Charlie Kirk. Just 31 years old, with a young family…he had his whole life in front of him. He was truly changing hearts and minds on college campuses all across our nation. He was boldly, (but gently and lovingly) proclaiming the Truth of Jesus Christ, and the issues that God cares about most dearly. And that is why they killed him.

Our fall 40 Days for Life kicks off with a Mass & Eucharistic Procession to Planned Parenthood on Tuesday, September 23rd, and our 40-day prayer vigil on the sidewalk in front of PP begins the following morning. Every day, from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm, for forty straight days…we will be there to pray for an end to abortion.

Let’s do this one for Charlie. Let’s officially dedicate these fall 40 days to his memory, and in his honor. Are you with me on this one?

Just as Charlie was fearless and courageous in proclaiming the Truth of Jesus Christ, we need to do the same. I realize that we may be getting weary by now. After all…this is the 30th campaign that I have led…and Planned Parenthood is still there. But we cannot give up! We can never stop our defense of vulnerable, innocent human life!

Please join us for our kick off CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION, and sign up for a weekly prayer shift on the sidewalk if possible. We really need your help to keep the prayer vigil unbroken! SIGN UP TO PRAY AT THE VIGIL HERE. Also, we know that this is a spiritual battle, and Jesus said that prayer AND fasting is the way to defeat the devil…so SIGN UP TO FAST ON OUR FASTING CALENDAR HERE.

My sister in Christ, Pearl Corbin, a former 40 Days for Life leader in the Bronx, came to Pittsburgh last week to speak at our PCUC banquet. She took the photo of Charlie Kirk, standing with her daughter (Deborah) that is at the top of this page. She texted the following message to me last night:

You may have heard by now what took place to a  beloved Champion for Life, Charlie Kirk. As people serving directly in strategic prolife ministries, I want to share a bit of my sentiment re: this young man and request prayers for his young widowed wife, 2 children and our nation, in an intentional and concerted effort this evening. πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½ Deborah took a picture with him when she attended a March for Life rally in DC and he partnered with Liberty University. Charlie liked Deb’s pro-life sign and asked  if he could hold it. He was such a light among the college and university campuses  in our nation. This is a SAD day, but may the Lord turn it around and cause at least a million more young students to rise in his place for the glory of God and to the furtherance of His Great and Glorious Kingdom! BTW, this was more than an assassination of a political activist. Let us keep ‘front and center’ that Charlie Kirk was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spoke, unabashedly, unashamedly, about what God holds dear.  Charlie spoke courageously about what God says about LIFE, Marriage, Gender, Children and the LGBTQIA+ agenda. We need to speak boldly re: what just took place…Charlie Kirk was Martyred for the Kingdom of God!πŸ™πŸ½

I wrote an article for our PCUC newsletter in August about the duty of Christians to fill the void that evil has ripped out of our culture. It is posted HERE if you would like to read it. Bottom line of my article: If we do not fill the void left by evil with GOOD…more evil will come in, like weeds taking over a garden. And I said in an article from September, POSTED HERE, that those of us who are strong have a duty to care for those who are weak.

Me too, Charlie. And I know that my 40 Days for Life family agrees!

Join us on the sidewalk during these fall 40 days from September 24th through November 2nd. They have silenced Charlie, but we still have a voice. Let’s use it…in love and gentleness, in honor and in memory of him. SIGN UP HERE!
