Day 5: Thank you to our incredible volunteers!

It must have been the Holy Spirit who inspired the founders of the 40 Days for Life movement to hold one of the twice-yearly campaigns during Lent. Our prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are so meaningful to begin with; but God blesses them with an added dimension when we use them as weapons in the fight for Life.

+++Prayer, so vital to a relationship with our Lord, is the bedrock of the 40 DFL movement.

+++Fasting can be easier to get behind when our sacrifice provides us with a concrete opportunity to choose something greater, as when we give up our time and comfort to go witness at the vigil.

+++Almsgiving to pregnancy resource centers or the diaper bank is a perfect way to share with others, particularly those threatened by abortion.

Please take advantage of Lent and of 40 Days for Life to grow closer to our Lord and to stand for the sanctity of Life!

This, rather, is the fasting that I wish:
releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke;
Setting free the oppressed,
breaking every yoke;
Sharing your bread with the hungry,
sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;
Clothing the naked when you see them,
and not turning your back on your own.
Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
and your wound shall quickly be healed;
Your vindication shall go before you,
and the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

So blessed to spend a few hours this morning with the amazing and prayerful Knights of Columbus. Vince, Dave, Rich, and George are the best! We had a very peaceful (albeit cold!) morning, so we were able to offer all the mysteries of the Rosary and a Chaplet of Divine Mercy to end abortion.

The Pittsburgh Rosary Walkers

The first Sunday of this campaign and also the first Sunday of Lent with the words of Our Lord from the Saint Matthew’s Gospel, “Begone, Satan! for it is written: The Lord Thy God shalt thou adore, and Him only shalt thou serve. This is our prayer for this day on Liberty Avenue. I was missing partner Pat S. today but very happy to have Brother Knight Paul for the first hour and faithful Nadine for the second.  The Sunday Rosary walk also stopped to pray a decade at PP. Winter returned today with snow showers but otherwise a quiet Sunday on the sidewalk.

Great to have Clare and Maria from Precious Blood joining the regulars. So good to see young people praying for the babies. Something happened I’ve never seen before, a car drove up with a man or a woman in it, the woman got out of the car and put a backpack and a hoodie in front of the building to the left of the baby killing mill. Then she got back in the car and they left. I checked out the backpack to make sure there was nothing dangerous inside it. I.e. a bomb and it was fine. The guy was working in that building today and he moved it to the door closest to the baby killing mill And it sat there for our entire shift. We wrote down the license plate of the car just in case we needed it lol.

Quiet and prayerful shift. Good to see faithful prayer warriors Sue and Andy!

Thank you to all involved in this year’s 40 days of life! Your reward is great!
The Sisters of the Holy Spirit will be praying for you daily, that your presence in front of PP be fruitful, that babies be saved, that moms be helped!
