Smoothing Out Our Rough Edges
Having grown up in Southern California, never too far from the ocean, I loved to beachcomb for treasures now and then. It always impressed me how chunks of sharp glass could become smooth in time, simply by tumbling about in the waves down at the shore.
Life is like that. Getting tumbled about amongst the grit of life’s slings and arrows will help to make us better people if we face these challenges with the proper attitude.
We are NEVER alone in this war against the scourge of abortion. Tapping into abundant grace which is right there for each of us, hardships and tough times can be overcome. Victory is on the horizon, IF we continue to fight. This pro-life battle against Principalities and Powers is fought by arming ourselves with prayer and cloaking ourselves in the mantle of Heavenly Love.
If nothing else, your prayerful presence on the sidewalk during this 40Days campaign will be most welcomed. We realize it’s not convenient or comfortable, but you will be better for it. God will be pleased and He will bless you!
JAMES 1:2-4 (from Monday’s Mass readings)
“Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Joe K, Tim & David

It was sadly a brisk and busy morning at the abortion mill. Saturday morning regulars Joe and David were busy approaching those entering. And we prayed and prayed. We were relieved by Andrew and Ann along with Bill.

Many couples went in for abortions, although perhaps fewer than average during our shift. Ann and I were joined by Bill at 9:00, and at 10:00 by Kiran, Jared, and Clare. At 11:00 we were all relieved by Chris and parishioners of an Orthodox church who came and prayed with their priest. Oh, and Anthony! He showed up again just as we were leaving. 4 days in a row?!

Report: 11AM-1PM: PP probably had about 10 clients in my shift. We weren’t able to turn any around but two couples took some pro-life literature when they were leaving. Other than that, we were able to hand out either the green cards or pamphlets to around 15 passers-by. Chris
Kathy, Patty & Mary
Two hours went quickly for this shift: Patty and her husband prayed, which caused many passerby people to take info. Andrew and Diana used sunlight as they handed out info across Liberty. Some women took info and blessing bags as they exited. Mary and I engaged a young man about fetal models.
Billy, Mary, Amy & Jason

Today I was with Mary, and Amy and Jason! It was a peaceful afternoon for praying. We had one guy who was not friendly to us, but the majority of the people just walked by. Mary and I were able to have some prayers, and it looked like PP was going to close earlier. When Mary had left a gentleman named Isaiah was drawn to Amy’s adoption sign, and he had questions. Other than that it was a good day!

So wonderful to see all the prayer warriors on site today, especially the priest (?) and parishioners from St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral! I pray for people of all faiths to join 40DFL.
