Day 3…Thanks to Our Faithful Team!

It’s the start of a new 40 Days for Life campaign, and, yes, Jesus is looking at me, and you.  He invites us to be his hands and feet on the sidewalk, to offer hope to the women about to enter PP.   Our prayerful efforts will bear fruit whether we see the “saves” or not.   This is a time to be bold, to stand up for Life!

Praying and/or counseling on the sidewalk is not easy, especially when the weather is cold.  If it were easy, all our fellow church-goers would be there with us.  It takes courage and fortitude to be there- to pray for the unseen and unheard little ones and their mothers. It takes sacrifice- to take time out of our busy days, to stand in the cold, and to hear the insults and obscenities from passersby. What are we asked to endure?  Rude and nasty comments.  Compare that to what Jesus had to endure- the scourging, ridicule, a crown of thorns, physical pain beyond comprehension. And he bore all of that not just to save mankind, but for each one of us, individually.  Just last year I heard something that made a deep impression- that even if it was to save only me, Jesus would have willingly accepted the Cross.

“Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company around Him.  They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.  And they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt down before Him to mock Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”  Then they spit on Him and took the staff and struck Him on the head repeatedly.”  Matthew 27:30

When the Cross was raised upright it became difficult for Him to breathe.  Every breath required an upward push of His legs to take that breath.

So, I ask you to please make a small sacrifice during the next six weeks and join us downtown.  Please pray with us for the women and their pre-born children as they enter PP.  Your prayers may be the last ones the little ones will hear, prayers that tell them that they are loved.

“For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps.”  1 Peter 2:21

Joe and Kathy witnessed in the pouring rain this morning…

Joe and I did today’s setup.  Thanks Joe for your help! About 10 women entered pp during my shift, some were accompanied and 1 or 2 accepted resources.  A few women laughed at Joe’s offers of help which was especially distressing to Joe.  The mocking attitudes these women display reveal such a disdain for life that weighs heavily on prolifers. Since it was raining, I chose to pass out the pregnancy cards instead of the green brochures.  I also passed out some flyers for the April 18th march and got one positive response from a man saying he would attend. One blessing bag was given to a couple passing by as the woman is pregnant. They gladly received it. Umbrellas were given to two homeless men passing by, the one voiced that today is his birthday. Sidewalk Advocate Kim arrived at 9 and during that time, Anthony showed up to pray the rosary. Kathy

Anthony is three for three!!! Here he is with Mary and Kim.

Today as I arrived for my shift , Joe White had been there for about 1.5 hours.  He said to me “Kim, it’s laughing day”” He explains that a lot of women going in would laugh at him and or his pro life sign, point and laugh.  Well Joe’s laughing day did continue as several women going in during my shift also laughed at me.  Of course God sees all and knows all and knew we needed a shot of his grace , and along comes Anthony  , with his smile and warm welcome and also armed with the rosary. Together he, Mary and I prayed 3 mysteries of the rosary out loud.  Who’s laughing now??

Mary and Pat prayed today, which was a busy abortion day, sadly.

When it comes to rescuing mothers, fathers and God’s precious babies: -Satan says “Don’t”. -“Planned Parenthood” says “Don’t”. -Society says “Don’t”. But was does God say about our witness? From today’s reading, God implores us: “ Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry out full-throated and unsparingly, lift up your voice like a trumpet blast; Tell my people their wickedness…”. Isaiah 58:1-9a

Busy day at PP, SA Susan did her best talking to all the women leaving with brown bags but they were avoiding us like the plague! Susan also told the many employees leaving the murder mill that there's help for them if they wish to find better employment, two of them laughed at her and said they enjoyed doing it! Susan offered another girl leaving with a brown bag some literature and told her that God loves her, but the girl ( with misty eyes) replied "there's no evidence of a god". The strong winds blew all the displays over and as we were picking it up a man walking by told us we should all die! We prayed the rosary for the mother and babies but there is so many more people that need our prayers down there!!

Such a blessing to have Patty and David join Mike and I today.  Not much has changed on the sidewalk on Friday’s from 3-5.  We see the same faces, same workers exiting PP.  Everyone we encounter is so troubled and needs something. We prayed for all of them. Val
