Day 13…Thanks to St. John/St. Mary/Mother of Sorrows Parishes & Our dedicated Team!

A little girl made our day…

Early one morning while praying aloud in front of the abortion mill a women and three young girls under the age of 10 came walking up the street. We said good morning as they passed by and looked at the display and signs but didn’t say anything.  They stopped at the top of the painted arc and pressed the pedestrian button to cross over Liberty and waiting despite there being no traffic.  We kept praying.  I thought for a moment I heard something but wasn’t sure.  The light changed and one of the little girls, about 6, stepped off the curb and made the sign of the cross as she departed.

My heart erupted in true joy.  I’m sure those little ones aborted that morning felt her love.

We all wonder if we make a difference on the street.  When: Women going into the clinic don’t accept our help; Passerby’s say unkind things to us: Cars go by and some make gestures. But on this day we touched a heart and hopefully planted a  tiny mustard seed. And that little girl gave us hope for the future and encouragement to keep up the fight.

Come join us and have an impact on someone’s life.  You may not see it right away, but it happens.

(From Michael) – Thanks be to God for our lives and the gorgeous weather. Mark arrived with two prayerful ladies from his church who prayed the rosary for 90 minutes without a break. Only saw PP workers entering their building. A woman who is probably homeless approached us for help. She was  complaining about being cold, was distraught and we were unable to make out most of her words. We finally decided to call 911. EMTs and police arrived to assess her. She refused to be taken to the hospital and police gave her a bus pass, assisted her to get on a bus in order for her to travel to connect with someone she knew. Sad to see her in this state. We have so much to be thankful for. Please pray for this nameless lady. Lord hear our prayers.

When I arrived, a nice Evangelical minister was already there, silently praying & diligently handing out flyers entitled “God Loves the Unborn.”  He stayed throughout the shift but then left quickly enough that I didn’t ask his name.  We were joined by Annamarie & Bob, a lovely married couple representing three Westmoreland County churches: St. John’s, St. Mary’s, & Mother of Sorrows (if I remember correctly!).  More than on other days, one doesn’t know what to expect on Mondays on the sidewalk outside the death mill — except that sadly the mill will be open for business and committing atrocities.   Last Monday was obviously an Abortion Day, with lots of victims going in and out those dreadful doors.  Today traffic was lighter but still steady throughout the day.  Some victims remained inside long enough to have ingested the first poison pill in the RU-486 protocol.  Others, inside more briefly, may have been given potentially cancer-causing hormones for “gender transitioning.” Many female victims emerged carrying rather bulky bags which I fear contained Plan B, Ella, or other abortifacient drugs.  This is of course why it’s very important to continue the conversation (or at least provide literature) whenever a PP victim says “I’m not here for an abortion.”  The sad fact is that ALL hormonal “birth control” drugs & ALL IUDs function as ABORTIFACIENTS at least some of the time.  Even if this “only” happens in 10% of cycles, in less than one year of use, the average user will have killed at least one precious, genetically complete & unique little son or daughter! (From Elsie) – Tom shared this shift with me again this week.  We had some interesting & uplifting conversation with the contractor in charge of the renovation project next door to PP. He is a Christian with an incredible heart for drug addicts and others who may be at the end of their ropes.  Also, two friendly ladies on the staff of MARY’S PLACE walked by and introduced themselves.  They assured us that Mary’s Place currently has room for more pregnant moms in need of a safe home and other help.  They wanted us to get the word out to sidewalk counselors and others: if you want to refer a mom to them, the Mary’s Place phone number is 412-207-8805.

(From Tom) – Today seemed to be a little bit light on PP traffic, most of our efforts were with the pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk.   Elsie and I were able to engage and provide informational brochures to numerous people, and the majority seemed at least receptive to the info.   We did experience a “table toss” of our little briefcase and some signs by a sidewalk person… Obviously she was not in her right mind and seemed very disturbed and angry, not with us or our cause but maybe life in general.   She then left the area and returned later, but was calmed down by that point. We cleaned up and re-organized our items and completed our shift.   Also, we had a chat with the owner of the renovation crew working on the building next to PP, and he seemed to be a strong Christian, sympathetic to our cause. Amen for friends in turbulent times…

Only a few women came out of PP while we prayed the Joyous Mysteries Rosary. Beautiful weather was welcomed but the horrible stench permeating from the building being gutted next door to PP wasn’t!
