Sing a Joyful Song unto the Lord: Carolers from 40 Days for Life

Updated  December 23, 2016 with an article Diane D. sent to me about the national caroling to bring peace to the womb and  hope to the women who think that abortion will solve the problem.  Scroll and read about our carolers then read the National Register’s article.  Link at bottom of post.

What a joy filled morning today was in front of Planned Parenthood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a street called Liberty.

joy

Is there some irony in that statement?

Yes there is.  How can a place like PP be known for anything but death?  PP is only known for heartache because of the abortions that are performed there.  At a minimum, fifty abortions a week are done at this city location.

But today, to show there are alternatives to the choice of abortion,  the sidewalk next to PP was filled with people of grace singing songs of joy.

Lifting their voices to God in song is praying twice.

Why would anyone want to sing in front of an abortion clinic?

Today’s caroling was part of a national event which our own Jeannie was asked to organize here.   Jeannie answered the call and many of our 40 Days for Life family came out to sing for life with the spirit of Christmas in their hearts .  Over 30 people, not including Jeannie and Judy, the two organizers, participated on a cold, snowy day in downtown Pittsburgh.  In addition, the Sidewalk Advocates, who volunteer on Saturdays to counsel abortion bound women, sang and offered help to the customers of PP.  The 40 Days for Life family helps spread the message that Pittsburgh is one of the most livable cities in America.  We want babies to have the  right to experience life here in Pittsburgh.

Jeannie reports:  “We had nearly 30 carolers on a very, very cold Pittsburgh morning. Our favorite verse to sing today was  the final verse of Away in a Manger  which we sang multiple times in a row because we thought it was so appropriate.

“Bless all the dear children in your tender care and take us to heaven to live with You there. “

We had an accordion accompaniment by Randy,  Lisa’s husband.

You could hear the singing down several blocks. What a fantastic day!

The main message today was babies are beautiful! In this season of Advent when we await Christmas Day and the birth of Jesus, we know that expectant mothers have their own season of advent.  Pregnancy is a time of waiting for the joy of someone notable.  Babies are worth waiting for. Deliver the message of hope to mothers.

No matter the circumstances of the pregnancy and birth, babies are beautiful. The mothers and fathers are beautiful. Help those who are doubtful about the future, choose life for their unborn child.

A baby, born to a poor family over 2000 years ago, was beautiful and gives hope, if only expectant mothers and fathers would trust in the King of kings.
