If anyone sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; For in the image of God has man been made. Gen.9
It’s never convenient, is it? Life is busy, rushing from morning till evening…getting tasks done. And then a loved one gets sick and everything comes to a screeching halt. Or a young woman is busy planning her future…college and career…and she finds out she is unexpectedly pregnant.
Interruptions. Never convenient.
This week my schedule came to a screeching halt when on Tuesday evening I got a call from my mom saying that my dad fell and needed to be taken to the emergency room. An entire night spent in the ER, in the hallway. Waiting room full of sick people, packed in like sardines. No rooms available until Wednesday afternoon. Exhausting.
We take care of our elderly parents because they have dignity and are deserving of respect. It’s our responsibility to take care of those who are unable to help themselves. Even when the image of God is hard to see in the exterior…as our bodies and minds start to decline...the image of God is there.

The same is true at the beginning of life. A new life is hard to see. It is hidden in the dark of the womb. Even an ultrasound, as wonderful as it is…does not really show the true humanity of an unborn baby. It is rare that we can get an actual glimpse of a living fetus…but I recently was sent a video that does just that! It is truly amazing, and I wish we could show this video to every woman and man who is planning to abort the priceless treasure that they have been given! It is a video of an 8-week old fetus that had to be removed because she was growing in the wrong place, in her mother’s fallopian tube. The baby was extracted alive and moving her little arms, legs and head…just like newborn baby…although only the size of a grape. The video is only 6 seconds long…so if you are like me, you will want to watch it over and over again. It is truly amazing, although sad that this little one was not able to survive. Her death can be used to save other little ones, by showing the true humanity, dignity and value of every human life…even those who are especially vulnerable and hidden.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY…
Our 40 Days for Life vigil is in need of more volunteers! From March 5th until April 13th, it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure there are people praying on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm EVERY DAY!!! As of today, there are only 15 church groups that have signed up for time slots, and most of our times have only 2 or 3 people per hour. I realize that we have been doing 40 Days for Life vigils for a long time now, and it is “old news” by now…but it is still important! It is still our responsibility, as Christians, to be salt and light to our culture. Jesus has told us that we will be judged by how we treat the least of our brothers and sisters. How can we ignore the killing of 3,000 tiny human beings every year behind the doors of Planned Parenthood?
PLEASE SIGN UP!
Go to www.40daysforlife.com/pittsburgh to commit to certain hours during the 40 days. If you are able to officially adopt a time slot for your church, please email Jen at pghsaland365@gmail.com and she will add you to the schedule.
For the first 20 days, here is the list of our most urgent needs, where we have only one person scheduled and will have to cancel if we dont’ find a partner for them:
- Mar. 5: 11am
- Mar. 6: 12 pm & 3-5pm
- Mar. 8: 1-5pm
- Mar. 9: 7-9am & 1pm

Thank you for checking your schedule and giving up your time and comfort to come and pray for these babies and their parents. May God bless you!

Quite a few “falls” lately. A friend broke left arm, I recently tripped and fortunately only minimal injury.
We all need to thank our heavenly Angel, for watching over us. How much evil that is waiting to corrupt us when we are weak.
