THIS WONDERFUL REFLECTION is adapted from thoughts from writer Paul Tripp:
This pandemic confronts the delusion of human independence and self-sufficiency.
We like to think, as human beings, that we are so advanced and capable. But look around – all it takes is a single virus to shut down the entire world. Let this time remind you that you were created to be dependent on the Creator.
This pandemic reminds us that there is a greater, darker, and more dangerous pandemic – SIN !!
Not everyone will test positive for the coronavirus, but everyone has been infected by sin, from birth. “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” (Psalm 51:5)
This pandemic makes God’s sovereign power and amazing grace shine even brighter.
Sin is eternally more destructive than the coronavirus will ever be, but there is a known cure. God looked at his world in awesome mercy and love and decided he would not let us perish from this disease (John 3:16).
This pandemic makes us long for our final destination.
Hope in heaven is not some faint, dreamy wish, for those who are embracing some religious delusion. The final promise of the gospel is this: There will be a day when such things will end forever, and we will be in a place where there will be no more sickness and no more suffering (Revelation 21:4).
Today’s message from Shawn Carney:
Musings from today’s prayer warriors:
Shift Manager Tim Reports:
The downtown streets were quiet today yet sadly PP was open. However, there was a prayer warrior on his knees making a powerful witness to life. Surely God heard his prayers. I was not on the streets this morning. I was in my home kneeling in prayer on the comfort on my carpet. I watched the Mass on EWTN, the ultimate prayer. I know Heaven heard my prayers to change hearts and minds and end abortion. Jesus I trust in You! Tim
Shift Manager Dean Reflects:
My daily reading from Our Daily Bread is currently in the Book of Judges. I can’t think of a more appropriate verse for society’s state than Judges 21:25, “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes”.
Please May God bring us back from this mindset to a willingness and dedication to follow His ways.
I spent the first half hour of my shift on my knees, with the aid of a pillow. Frankly, I don’t think that I could have managed that on the sidewalk. I prayed for the Holy Spirit to give everyone a conviction of the sanctity of life. This is God’s precious gift to us.
I prayed for our legislators to make abortion more difficult to get, if not abolish it all together. Abortion thrives in an atmosphere where it is condoned.
I firmly believe that God will use the current pandemic to reach the unsaved. In closing I leave you with one of my favorite passages, Phil. 4: 6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. Dean
Shift Manager Melissa Writes:
Today as the rain falls I see the sunshine through at times. It’s a reminder to me that no matter how much the darkness tries to cover it cannot cover the Light. The Light of this world is Jesus and His love and sacrifice shines through all of this. I continue to pray the prayer I wrote believing God will answer our prayer to close the abortion industry down. Join me in this prayer if you wish. Heavenly Father, thank you for opportunity to gather together to pray and share your message with all who are willing to hear. We pray for your guidance and protection in this area where we know evil lurks. We ask you to be with us. Cover us and protect us. In Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord. We surrender this to you. Knowing fully that you are in control of everything. We find comfort in your Word and rest at Jesus feet listening for guidance and direction. In 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and keep you safe from the Evil One. And in Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. Help us Lord. Give us courage and boldness to reach those within the enemy’s grasp. Give us the words to reach their hearts and open their minds to your Truth. Sustain us when we feel weak. Knowing fully our strength comes from you. In Isaiah you remind us of this Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Bring healing and comfort to this area. Bind the evil that resides here and send it back to where it belongs. Fill this area with your love and your comfort. Restore your people. Unveil their eyes so they can see what the enemy has stolen from them and draw them to you Lord to join us in this fight for your children. All your children have value and matter. Remind us victory is already ours through your son Jesus Christ as in Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord. I pray for the body of Christ to come together to rid this city and county and world of the thought of abortion. Bring this evil fortress Planned Parenthood and all places who perform abortions down! Let their doors close forever. Open the eyes of the hearts of all those that participate in this act of violence against the most innocent precious ones so they may seek repentance. Guide us. Protect us. Heal us. Comfort us. Praise you for creating us and giving us purpose to do your Will. In Jesus name we Pray, Amen. God bless you all and may he keep you safe.
And shift manager Katie sent a prayer that she finds inspiring:
Orthodox Prayer for Victims of Abortion O most merciful, all gracious and compassionate Lord Jesus Christ our Savior, Son of God: we entreat Thee, most gracious Master: look with compassion upon Thy children who have been condemned to death by the unjust judgment of men. And as Thou hast promised to bestow the heavenly kingdom on them born of water and the Spirit, and who in blamelessness of life have been translated unto Thee; and Who said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven”—we humbly pray, according to Thy unfailing promise: Grant the inheritance of Thy kingdom to the multitude of spotless infants who have been cruelly murdered in the abortuaries of this land; for Thou art the resurrection and the life and the repose of all Thy servants and of these innocents, O Christ our God. Turn the hearts of those who seek to destroy Thy little ones. We beseech Thee to pour forth Thy healing grace upon them, that they may be convicted in their hearts and turn from their evil ways. Remember all of them that kill our children as on the altars of Moloch, and render not unto them according to their deeds, but according to Thy great mercy convert them—the unbelieving to true faith and piety, and the believing that they may turn from evil and do good. O Holy Master, Almighty Father and pre-eternal God, Who alone made and directs all things; Who rises up quickly against the evil of the impious ones; Who, by providence, teaches Thy people preservation of justice and the obliteration of evil on earth; Who condescends to raise up warriors for the protection of the people of God: we entreat Thee with compunction, that as Thou didst give David power to defeat Goliath, and as Thou didst condescend through Judas Maccabeus, to seize victory from the arrogant pagans who would not call on Thy Name; so too, grant protection to us, Thy servants against the enemies rising against us as we go forth to do spiritual battle against the evil one and those who do his will rather than Thine. For Thou art a merciful God, and lovest mankind, and unto Thee do we ascribe glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
