Day 30: Thank you to Lincoln Place Church of the Nazarene, and all of our other prayer volunteers throughout the day!

Friends, please consider coming to the vigil on Monday, October 31.  We have a need for prayer volunteers from 3-7 that day.  Please sign up at if you are able to come.  Thank you!

Brothers and sisters:

Draw your strength from the Lord and from His mighty power.

Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm

against the tactics of the devil.

For our struggle is not with flesh and blood

but with the principalities, with the powers,

with the world rulers of this present darkness,

with the evil spirits in the heavens.

Therefore, put on the armor of God,

that you may be able to resist on the evil day

and, having done everything to hold your ground.

So stand fast with your loins girded in truth,

clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,

and your feet shod in readiness for the Gospel of peace.

In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield,

to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God.

With all prayer and supplication,

pray at every opportunity in the Spirit.

To that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication

for all the holy ones and also for me,

that speech may be given me to open my mouth,

to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel

for which I am ambassador in chains,

so that I may have the courage to speak as I must.

-Ephesians 6:10-20

The Church gives us an amazing passage from Ephesians for our reflection today.

How often do we think about the spiritual warfare in which we are engaged?  Simply by BEING BAPTIZED, we have willingly (some of us through the consent of our parents and Godparents) offered to engage in it.  Many of our baptismal rituals included prayers of exorcism, through which we reject satan, and all his works, and all his empty promises.  We then profess belief in our Trinitarian God and all the other articles of the Creed.

Why is this important?

And no weapon formed against us will stand.  We have NOTHING to fear when we trust in Our God’s protection.  That is the ONLY way that we can enter into a spiritual battle such as the fight for human life…. by remaining close to the Lord God in prayer, and in all that we do.  Otherwise, we’d be toast.  And no offense against toast lovers, but I’d rather be fighting the good fight, and on my way to glory.

Let us fearlessly stand for life in the mist of a perverse and crooked generation, among whom we must shine like stars in the sky.  Let us pray for an end to abortion.  And let us stand for the women who are in the crosshairs of the abortion industry.

Shift Manager Reports

Katie reports:

Marian and Sue M. stopped by before work this morning, followed by Beth and Lisa H. Two men in a station wagon went in with cleaning supplies, but other than them, there were only 1 or 2 people I couldn’t identify as workers. As usual on Thursday mornings, not much was going on other than people heading to work and school.

Marilyn shared:

Thank you to Jill, Beth Ann, Mark, Bob and Walt who all came out to pray unscheduled.  Even though it rained, several people were open to taking the resource cards.  A new mom with a five-month-old stopped to talk, and was amazed at the fetal models.  She was very happy when I gave her one. Thankfully, there was not much foot traffic inside PP, other than deliveries and workers.  We did get to talk with the delivery driver and he knew exactly what was going on inside and said that it was the downfall of our nation.
Today’s conversations reminded me that no matter how bad life gets, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, no matter the outcome of this election, GOD is in charge.  He has a plan for all of us.  We just need to keep on keeping on and fight the good fight!  Let the whole world know we are Christians by our love!!!   God gives us all unique talents that He wants us to use to build up his kingdom.  If something bad happens in our lives, God will use it for His glory IF WE LET HIM, for nothing is impossible for God.   So, let your light shine for all the world to see.  Surrender to our Lord and He will make all things new.
God bless you,

Lisa K. reports:

I am so thankful once again, for the Lord’s provision.  He always seems to provide me with just who I need to pray with.  Thank you to Thursday regulars, Joan and Barb, as well as Ginny and Beth, who were not on OUR schedule to come…. but they must have been on GOD’S schedule.  Thank You, Lord!  I did not have to pray alone!

There were several little meaningful moments today, but I am just thankful to have such a united front as we pray against this evil together.  Thank You, Lord, again!!

Helen shared:

Ginny waited for her ride through most of the time when Jeff and I were at PP. Most of the time it was dark gray and wet–enough for us to put up our hoods.
A young woman came close and said, “I have three kids. Do you want them?” I said, “For sure! You are blessed!” She said she would bring them on Friday.
Jeff watched while a group of young girls looked, touched, patted and admired the fetal models. Jeff offered them each a model of their own.
Later, a young woman looked at the models. She said she lost a baby to miscarriage when it was about the age of the smallest…she described the experience.  We gave her a model.

Rick shared:

The 5-7 PM shift on Thursday was peaceful and prayerful. Please pray for a young girl who stopped and talked to us for a long time this evening at Planned Parenthood.  She said she went in a while ago to have an abortion, was given a pill and spit it out and that she miscarried her baby and feels very guilty about everything.  She said she would like to get involved in Pro-Life activities.  She prayed with us and wanted rosary beads. Please keep her in your prayers.
I would like to especially thank Johanna from St. Peter’s Church in the North Side, David from St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Weirton and Mary from Assumption Church in Bellevue for their prayers and witness in standing up for Life!  God Bless!

Thank you, everyone, for your continued prayers and

participation in 40 Days for Life.

May we always be:

Love the graphic that was posted! what a great visual for us to keep in mind, especially the armor because it’s scriptural.
