A portion of today’s first reading:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.

-Ephesians 1:3

A few years ago, I was at a Magnificat Women’s Prayer Breakfast, where Johnette Benkovic (of EWTN fame) was the speaker.  She did an amazing job, spending so much time- and ENTHUSIASM- on this passage above.  Every time I run across it, I think of her enthusiasm and joy that morning.  So I pass it on to you… that God HAS INDEED blessed us in Christ with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavens.  What an amazing thing.  We have received these graces, these blessings, through our baptism.  Let us not forget who we are- and WHOSE we are- as we go onto the sidewalk.

Shift Manager Reports

Katie shared:
I only saw workers going in this morning.  Marian, Liz from St. Thomas More (and her dog all cozy in her purse!), and Joe (with his “Planned Parenthood is the biggest killer of unarmed black lives” sign) were there early (I forgot to take pictures! Sorry!), and Joe and Janie from St. John the Baptist came at 8. Anita from PCUC joined us on her way to class to pray. Yesterday morning “S” stopped by and told us that she had had an appointment for an abortion on Tuesday, but after talking with the people on the ultrasound bus she changed her mind!  She’s 3 months pregnant! 🙂
Thank you to Janie and her dad, Joe, from St. John the Baptist in Plum!

Lovely time with many people stopping to pray today. Thank you especially to the members of Lincoln Place Church of the Nazarene. They were able to help a  student who stopped by the vigil with questions. They talked to him so he can be better prepared when dealing with pro-choice classmates. So good that we can help educate the youth!

It was a blessing to be there today with members of my parish.  THANK YOU to all those who came from St. John the Baptist in Plum!  So much prayer and joy on the sidewalk!
As Tom from St. Bernard and I were praying the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the one phrase that struck me was “Heart of Jesus, Source of All Consolation… have mercy on us.”  I said to Tom afterward that Jesus truly IS our source of consolation.  We CANNOT fight this battle against abortion on our own- nor do we HAVE to.  And whether we fight well OR badly, the LORD is our source of all consolation.

Let us never forget the little ones who are precious to the Lord.
Let us continue to pray… and pray.
Let us also remember to pray for those mothers and fathers
who are facing difficulties in their lives.
May their decisions about unplanned pregnancies be guided by the Holy Spirit….

So happy to hear of the mother who was considering abortion and then changed her mind because she had an ultrasound! What’s amazing is that’s all it took. Praying for her & her baby that God would continue to guide them in their life together, and that she would have continued help, financially, emotionally & spiritually. Amen.
