Beloved Friends: Please be aware that we are in need of some of you to come and pray with Shift Manager Rick this THURSDAY, 9/29, from 6-7 PM. Please sign up on the website (www.40daysforlife.com/pittsburgh) for that hour. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people (including many clergy members!) who joined us for the kick-off to our fall campaign this past Sunday, September 25. It was well-attended, inspirational, and prayerful.
Thank you also to Pastor Dean and Memorial Park Church for hosting us! It was a great venue for the event.
Thank you to all who volunteered to make sure this event went off without a hitch!
Thank you to Jarrod and Aaron, who led the music for the evening. Beautiful job as always, gentlemen.
Thank you to Nikki, our amazing campaign director, who spoke so well, once again, and reminded us of our international theme for this campaign: UNITED. We are to be united in faith, in prayer, in fasting, and in charity. One of the things that stood out to me from Nikki was that the enemy will continue to be after us… and that he will attempt to divide us… but that we must remain strong in forgiving one another, and that we will not all do things the same way.
It seems obvious, but it is worth mentioning that OF COURSE the Lord needs all of us, each with our own gifts, to serve Him in this ministry. We EACH bring our own unique beauty to the pro-life mosaic.
Nikki also reminded us about the statewide rally that some of the 40 Days national team members will lead here in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, October 5, at 6 PM, at our vigil site (933 Liberty Avenue). Looking forward to seeing many of you there! Come and stand UNITED for life with us and our national team! Read about David, Shawn, and Steve here: https://40daysforlife.com/team/
Father Boniface Hicks was our first main speaker. Thank you, Father, for sharing so beautifully with us from your heart. Father discussed the importance of three aspects of our work:
- Self-denial and humility
- Taking a step to go out toward others
- Contemplation: doing this work WITH GOD, and discovering Him in the midst of all we are doing.
Thank you to Pastor Joseph Stump, our second main speaker, who shared with us these fatherly and pastoral admonitions from 2 Chronicles 20:
Our battle for life is a spiritual battle. When Jehoshaphat was going into battle, he called for the nation to fast and pray. The nation didn’t know what to do, but Jehoshaphat knew that they must keep their eyes fixed on the Lord. He also assured them of these things:
- This is the Lord’s battle; we just have to take our positions.
- Great things happen to us when we acknowledge our powerless position.
- God delights to intervene on behalf of powerless people.
The Magee Project:
Meredith reminded us about The Magee Project, which takes place BETWEEN the 40 Days for Life campaigns. The purpose of The Magee Project is to pray for an end to abortion at Magee Hospital.
Praying for Shift Managers:
Thank you again to all of our clergy who attended. Your praying over the Shift Managers was a beautiful and powerful time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the sidewalk this campaign! And please remember to join us with our national 40 Days for Life leaders on Wednesday, October 5, at 6 PM outside of Planned Parenthood. God bless you!
