We are just three weeks away from the start of our 40 Days for Life vigil in front of Planned Parenthood in Pittsburgh! Have you signed up yet? Currently our 40-day vigil is about one-third full with about 40 churches signed up already! We still have a long way to go! I have a feeling, that since this Lent begins so early, that it is going to be difficult to get the first couple weeks of the campaign filled. The last half of the 40 days are filling up nicely, but the first half is going to be a challenge. Our 40 Days for Life team met last night for our first planning meeting of this campaign. Our team members are so dedicated to this cause that they are willing to stand alone if necessary, in order to make sure the 40 day vigil continues unbroken…but I would sure feel better if they had some company while they are out there in the cold! We may need to rely on individuals to sign themselves up to come for one or two hour increments where we have no churches signed up. You can sign yourself up on the online vigil calendar by clicking HERE.
If you are ready to select a time to bring a group from your church to help us fill the vigil by “adopting” a time slot, click HERE to see the schedule of churches and the empty times that we need filled. Then, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the time you want and I will put your church on the schedule.
We still have plenty of printed flyers and bulletin inserts to help spread the word at your church! They are just $4 per hundred! Email email@example.com to let me know how many you need. You can view the flyer HERE
I hope you can also join us at our kick-off event on February 9th at St. Paul Cathedral’s Synod Hall. Click HERE for more details.
We also need people to sign up to fast for certain days during the 40 days…so we can maintain a 40-day fast! Click HERE to sign up to join the fast (liquids only OR bread and water)!
Now, I have a very important prayer request:
If you were at our 40 Days for Life kick off event last fall, you met Carita. She is a young woman that I met at Planned Parenthood. She was all alone in this city (she is from Jamaica) and was in a very difficult situation. By the grace of God, I was able to walk her away from Planned Parenthood and took her straight to Women’s Choice Network, where she saw her 19 week baby on ultrasound. It was not easy for her to choose life for her baby. There were many obstacles she had to overcome…but she loves the Lord and eventually she came to love the life that was growing inside her. She was so excited when she found out she was having a girl. Our 40 Days for Life team had a baby shower for her, and she and I became friends. I was overjoyed last Thursday night when I got a call from her saying she was in the hospital and was in labor. (She is back home in Jamaica now). Her baby was born early Friday morning. Her name is Adriel Ania. She seemed healthy at first, but by Saturday, the doctors began to be concerned that she couldn’t hold any food down. They tested her and have discovered that she has meningitis. They are treating her with antiobiotics, but Carita is worried and exhausted…sleeping at the hospital so she can be with her baby. Please lift up both Carita and Adriel in your prayers.
Here is a picture of our little miracle baby that was almost just another statistic on Planned Parenthood’s quarterly report:
Praise God for this little life and please pray for her and Carita!
And lastly, I just want to share this beautiful pro-life video from Christian Artist Matthew West. It is a song he wrote from an unborn baby’s point of view and it brought tears to my eyes! Enjoy it! Click HERE to watch!
