Well, we did it! By God’s grace, and our wonderful team of 40 Days for Life vigil shift managers!
Thanks also to Diane and Tom for their daily delivery of vigil materials, Patty for keeping the churches on schedule with their assigned times, Barbara for keeping all the shift managers schedules straight, all the talented blog writers who communicated the daily happenings from the vigil to our 40 Days for Life family, and the 96 churches and their wonderful pro-life leaders and pastors for helping us to maintain this 40 day witness in front of Planned Parenthood!
Thanks to all the individual volunteers who helped to fill empty time slots throughout the 40 days…we had hardly any time where the shift managers stood alone! The weather was good, we had many positive responses from the community, and hopefully at least 4 women turned away from Planned Parenthood and went instead to our local life-affirming resource centers! We praise God for lives saved and for souls that have been eternally impacted through our prayerful witness on the sidewalk!
Last night we closed out the 40 days with a celebration at Catholic Charities, with food, fun and music! Thanks to Fr. Jason Charron of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church for speaking and encouraging us to NOT FALL ASLEEP and to not give up this fight! Thanks to Jarrod of INTENT and Aaron Greer for providing the wonderful music, for everyone who brought food and who came out! It was a blessed time of fellowship and I enjoyed getting to meet and talk with many of you!
God is the ONE in charge of 40 Days for Life! He will continue to protect this movement and to use it for HIS PURPOSE for as long as it is His Will! We need not fear anything, but instead we should simply put our TRUST in Him and continue in obedience to His call to pray, fast and witness for an end to the evil of abortion.
The next 40 Days for Life campaign begins on Ash Wednesday, February 10th and ends March 20th! BRRR…I am feeling the chill already! Churches, you can choose your time anytime you are ready. I would suggest taking no more than two hour shifts unless you have enough people to split your four hour slot into two teams. It will be too cold for anyone to be out there for longer than two hours. If you can choose two separate dates (two hours each), that would be ideal!
MORE VIGIL SHIFT MANAGERS NEEDED…
I would like to recruit more vigil shift managers for the next campaign, to try to shorten the shifts during the cold weather. We have an awesome bunch and they would welcome you warmly if you are interested in joining us! Please contact me if you would like more information about what all is involved in being a 40 Days for Life vigil shift manager.
SIDEWALK ADVOCATE TRAINING THIS SUNDAY!
If you would like to stay involved and are interested in attending one of Kathy Laslow’s Sidewalk Advocate training sessions, there is one this Sunday in the office of PCUC in Brookline. Contact Kathy at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. If you are not ready to take the leap of actually reaching out to abortion bound couples, but would like to simply be a prayer partner for someone who is a sidewalk advocate, Kathy is in need of these also. Please prayerfully consider it if your schedule allows.
lastly, there is a recently released documentary film about the Gosnell tragedy, called 3801 Lancaster. It is set to be shown in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, November 18th at 7pm….if enough tickets are sold. Last I checked, they still needed to sell about 20 more tickets. Here is the information…please spread the word:
3801 Lancaster: American Tragedy
This film t tells the story of Kermit Gosnell’s case and trial – including interviews with his patients, jurors, former PP nurses, and even Gosnell himself from prison. It lays out the deliberate failings and conscious choice by the state of Pennsylvania to ignore the horrors that went on for decades allowing more women and babies to be harmed and killed. It’s a powerful film from an award-winning team that has great reviews from people like Eric Metaxas. You can find out more about the film at
Each screening has a threshold to meet for reserved tickets for the showing to happen, and we still need to sell about 20 tickets for it to be shown in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, November 18th at the Carmike10 Theater, 700 Ft. Couch Rd (South Hills), at 7:30pm
It would be greatly appreciated it if you would consider purchasing tickets and spreading the word. Just as jurors and reporters who attended the trial had their mind changed on abortion, this film (documentary style, and journalistically done) can change hearts as well.

Finally, one of our pro-life veterans, Meredith Parente, is working on a project to encourage Magee Hospital to stop doing abortions. They did 701 abortions in 2014. If you are interested in joining her on this project, contact her at email@example.com
Here are a few photos from our closing rally last night at Catholic Charities…thanks SO much to Susan Rauscher for being there and opening up the Welcome Center for our event! We appreciate her support so much!
Thanks again everyone for another successful campaign! Have a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas! I will talk to you next year!
God bless you!
