I ain’t too proud to beg…please don’t leave me! Don’t you go! We are just three weeks away from kicking off our fall 40 Days for Life at Pittsburgh’s Planned Parenthood, and our vigil schedule is only half-full! (Or is that half-empty?)
This fall campaign will be the 11th 40 Days for Life that I have led, and what a blessing it has been! My life is forever changed because of my involvement in 40 Days for Life and I will continue to lead this effort as long as I feel it is God’s will for me to do so. I always said, that I won’t quit as long as you all are willing to join me! We have a wonderful, dedicated team of people who all love the Lord and are willing to volunteer their time to help organize, promote and keep our vigil going. I believe that our vigil shift managers have stuck with us for so many years because they are all inspired by the sacrifice of so many of YOU who come to the vigil, and especially by those of you who help to organize a group from your church to help us to fill the vigil.
So…it is now officially time for me to beg. Please take a look at the vigil schedule and see where you can help. Go to https://40daysforlifepittsburgh.com/church-vigil-schedule/ to see which times need filled, and then reply back to let me know what you can do.
Also, we have not had the usual response ordering flyers or bulletin inserts, and we still have LOTS left. There is still time to order them from me. Just reply and let me know if you would like to use them to promote 40 Days for Life in your church.
I’m really not worried…I’m just teasing with the “Ain’t too proud” subject line. Our faith community in and around Pittsburgh is the best, and I have no doubt that we will pull this off once again! We will continue to stand in the gap, as witnesses to the injustice of abortion, pleading for God’s forgiveness and mercy. Until abortion is outlawed…or until there are no abortion clinics in Pittsburgh…or until 40 Days for Life has served it’s purpose and run it’s course…we will keep doing this. It’s not easy. It is inconvenient, scary and difficult to publicly pray and witness where abortions happen. It’s hard for us…but do you know who it’s even harder for? It’s harder for the abortion business and for abortion supporters. You see, they have no way to counter 40 Days for Life! When we hold pro-life rallies and events, they can organize a group to come and harass us…try to drown out our speakers and intimidate the participants. But they cannot provide counter protesters every day for 40 days, from 7am until 7pm. They don’t have that kind of resolve or dedication!
We, on the other hand, are called to be STRONG in the Lord! It does no good to simply “be good“, if we are weak. The devil LOVES weak Christians…they are the sweet morsels he looks for to devour! So let’s train for battle daily through our prayers, fasting, giving up pleasures, charity, scripture, worship and sacraments! Let’s work while it is day, for the night is fast approaching when we will not be able to work any longer. God has been very merciful with us, by giving us 40 Days for Life and the opportunity to repent from the terrible sin of abortion. But I wonder how long this time of mercy will last? Could it be that a time of testing and suffering is fast approaching? Let us not be caught off-guard…lazy, slothful, fattened up for the slaughter. Instead, let us be prepared…fortified by a strong life of prayer and fasting, good works and sacrifice, so that we will remain firm in our faith and be able to help those who are weaker to hold fast to Jesus during the trials that may await us. It is an honor to fight this battle alongside of you! Thank you for joining me!
I Hope to see you at our 40 Days for Life Kick Off Event on Tuesday, September 22nd! More information can be found at https://40daysforlifepittsburgh.com/get-involved/
I wanted to share this link with you to a beautiful, heart-wrenching video of a music video from the perspective of a baby in the womb. It is just beautiful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Xf-A99y7c
And here is another video of actual amazing footage of life in the womb: https://www.facebook.com/acmd.medoks/videos/945127462205474/ These two videos remind us of the importance of what we are doing.
