From February 18th through March 29th, the Body of Christ throughout Pittsburgh will once again join together in prayer, fasting, and a peaceful prayer vigil in front of Planned Parenthood, where 2,366 pre-born babies were aborted last year. This will be the 10th time that we have stormed the gates of Hell with our prayerful witness on the sidewalk. Are we getting tired yet? Does it seem like we’ve “been there, done that”? So…when do we give up?
I suppose we could ask the founders of the international 40 Days for Life, Shawn Carney and David Bereit that question. When they held the first-ever 40 Days for Life in front of the Planned Parenthood in College Station Texas, back in 2004, they had no idea it would spread to be a national…and then international movement. They simply were obedient to the Holy Spirit’s prompting after an hour of prayer around a wooden table. They believed that 40 Days of united prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil in front of abortion facilities was the way in which God wanted His children to respond to the tragedy of abortion. 10 years later, we can clearly see the fruits of their obedience and faithfulness:
9,699 lives have been saved from abortion, 107 abortion workers have quit their jobs and 59 abortion facilities have closed following 40 Days for Life campaigns!
Following six 40 Days for Life campaigns in front of the College Station Planned Parenthood, the Director of that clinic, Abby Johnson, experienced a total conversion and is now a pro-life advocate, speaker and author of the best-selling book, “Un-Planned”…and leads a ministry which helps abortion workers who wish to leave the abortion industry.
After 13 campaigns, the College Station Planned Parenthood closed its doors forever!
Now for the topper! 40 Days for Life International Headquarters has just moved into its first-ever physical location. Up until now they have worked from their homes, airports and hotel rooms. You will never believe where their new office is! Yes, it is the former Planned Parenthood facility in College Station Texas, where they held the first 40 Days for Life campaign!
Truly, if this was a Hollywood movie, it couldn’t get any better. If anyone ever had a doubt that 40 Days for Life is a movement of GOD…it is now clear. This is HIS WORK. He only asks us to cooperate with Him in it. And that is where YOU come in! From Ash Wednesday till Palm Sunday we will once again maintain a peaceful prayer vigil in front of Planned Parenthood in Pittsburgh. Will you join us?
I promise not to give up if you don’t! Email me at email@example.com to get involved!
Your sister in Christ,
