Today an angel on a skateboard delivered a Divine Message to us! Okay, it may not have been an actual angel, but he definitely delivered us a very hopeful Message from God! It happened right after we had completed our morning rosary and prayers for life for the 11am-12pm hour, shared by me with a wonderfully devout man, Tom Whitesel from St. Kilian RC church in Cranberry. A loud clattering noise came along the sidewalk behind us; a very young man on a skateboard shot past us. But then, suddenly, he stopped right in front of the entry doors of the Planned Parenthood building. He got off his skateboard, and returned (on foot) to us. He was digging in his pocket, saying that he was going to show us “something”. He was very young, upper teens or lower 20’s, and Tom and I dubiously looked at each other while our visitor began fiddling with his phone, so as to show us this “something”. I was preparing for the worst, when finally he showed Tom and I a picture on his phone – of an adorable toddler boy playing inside of a toy car!
Our visitor then told us that when his (now fiance) found out that they were pregnant, that they made an appointment for an abortion. But the day of her appointment to end this precious life inside of her womb, they arrived to the clinic to discover several pro-lifers holding a prayer vigil outside of it, and she changed her mind and instead CHOSE LIFE for her pre-born baby! The young man then told us that it was the presence of people “like us” that had changed their minds, and he thanked us heartily for “doing what we do”, being “out there” on the sidewalk. He told us that our presence does make a difference! He was so clearly full of pride, joy, love and gratitude for his toddler son; it was so profoundly precious to see this young man absolutely glowing with paternal love, and you could also see how dearly he loved his courageous fiance, too. We thanked him for telling us his story, and asked him to please pray (with us) for LIFE! Our young visitor then leapt back upon his skateboard, and clattered noisily away….Tom and I were deeply moved, and were very grateful to God for sharing this very special Message with us through His “angel on a skateboard”.
