Today our vigil was maintained ALL DAY by faithful members of Hosanna Church in Bellvue! For the third 40 Days for Life campaign in a row, Hosanna Church has always filled an entire day at our vigil. Thank you beautiful brothers and sisters from Hosanna Church! Here are some photos from today:
I have some great news that I want to share! After I sent out that last email on Monday about Pittsburgh not having any babies saved, I got a phone call from a woman named Joyce. She had participated in the vigil on day #3 along with her church, St. Joseph’s parish in Cabot, PA. This is her story, in her words:
“At about 1pm I was standing in front of Planned Parenthood, praying and holding a model of a 12-week fetus. I noticed an attractive African American woman who looked to be about 20 years old. She was just standing there, looking at the fetal model in my hands…so I started up a conversation with her. She asked if I had a model of an eight week fetus. I told her I did not, but I showed her the brochure with a photo of an eight week fetus in it. “D” told me she was eight weeks pregnant and was there for an abortion. I advised her against going inside….I told her how Planned Parenthood makes it’s money by doing abortions, and they don’t care about what is best for her and her child…only about the money. I gave her the sheet with all the local crisis pregnancy resource centers information. She explained that her boyfriend, “K” was pressuring her to abort…but that her mom was supportive of her keeping the child. When we were finished talking, she gave me a hug and left. She did not enter the clinic!”
Praise God! A baby that was scheduled to die on September 30th did not! Please pray that “D” stays strong and does not allow “K” to talk her into making another appointment for an abortion! By the way, “D” told Joyce that her due date is May 12th.
Now, I have to tell you another amazing story. After I sent out that last email…a good sister in the Lord named Bernie emailed me to say she had said a prayer for the Lord to give me a “rainbow in the sky” to encourage me. Now, I don’t think she meant a literal rainbow…but that is exactly what God did! I was with my husband on our boat the very next evening, laying on the deck and looking up at the beautiful blue sky. Would you believe there was a rainbow right overhead? Here is a photo of it!
As soon as I saw that rainbow, I remembered Bernie’s prayer…and I just started to smile. Our God is SO amazing! His Mighty Hand IS upon us!
I hope you can come to our Mid-Point Gathering this Sunday, at 6pm in the Welcome Center at Catholic Charities, located at the corner of Ninth and Liberty. We will join in Christian unity to inspire and encourage each other to continue our prayers, fasting and vigil for another 2o days…and we will conclude with a candlelight procession to Planned Parenthood.
Also, some people are asking for a copy of the post abortion healing document to hand out while at the vigil. Timothy has linked it to our Media page on our website. Go to http://www.40daysforlife.com/pittsburgh/documents/POST%20ABORTION%20RECONCILIATION%20AND%20HEALING.pdf to download and print a copy of this document, if you would like one to have on hand to share with hurting women ad men.
Finally, I would like to share with you our needs for the next week at the vigil. They are as follows:
Tomorrow (Thursday) we have just one hour left un-filled (thanks to all whom have responded to our previous requests!) It is the 2:00 hour that we need someone to fill tomorrow.
Friday, just the 7am and 8am hour are empty (except for Shift Manager Al and “regular” Bob Newman).
Sunday, we are down to just one hour that needs filled, that is 11am. So we are looking pretty good until Monday…and then it begins to fall apart. On Monday, we have NO CHURCH PRESENCE! I can’t believe it! I think this is the ONLY day out of the 40 that we did not get a single church to come! It is ironic that it is Day 20…right smack in the middle. Anyway, we need individual volunteers to help us fill the 7am, 8am, 12pm, 1pm, 4pm, and 5pm hours. But, if we could fill the hours with more than one person, that would be wonderful…since it will be a very sparse day….with only one person and one shift manager there all day. If you can help fill an hour or two, go to www.40daysforlife.com/pittsburgh and click on the vigil schedule tab…or call me at 412-926-9413. After Monday, I will be out of town visiting my new grandson…so next week calls should go to Melissa, at 724-355-4216.
Thanks for all your prayers and sacrifice for these first 15 days and for being part of our 40 Days for Life family! I hope to see you Sunday!
