Day 6: Clarks Mills United Methodist Church and St. Stephen

Inspire.

This picture was taken last Saturday.  Kenny brought his daughter Meg to pp, sat down and both pulled out their rosary beads and began to pray. They stayed for some time and prayed. It gave me hope and brought tears to my eyes.  Their presence inspired me.  Your presence outside the abortion center will inspire others and change hearts and minds.

What are the 3 best things you can do to change hearts and minds?

1. Show up
2. Pray
3. Stay

Just show up.  So simple yet at times so hard.  We make a big difference when we stand vigil. All types of people see us: the abortion bound, pp workers, passerby’s and the ambivalent.

Pray.  God hears our prayers and it will be through His power that we will end abortion.  We don’t have to do it alone. Don’t let your doubts about our effectiveness make you forget that HE is with us.

Stay awhile.  If you have 5 minutes or an hour it will make a difference.

Be not afraid.  Ask friends and family members to join you. And then just show up, pray and stay awhile. God bless you.
Tim B.

Here are reports from today at the vigil.  This will be updated throughout the day so stop back.

9-11 am:

Andy and Pastor Adam were very welcoming. Pastor Adam said a prayer before they left. It was a great first day! Mary & Tessa came from St. Stephens, Mary & Rose came from St. Boniface, Katie and another Mary but I can’t remember from which parish.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bill and heard his story of how he has been praying everyday at Planned Parenthood for 7 years. What an amazing man! Bill was there when a car pulled up to drop someone off and the guy was yelling at us to move our sign asking if we had a permit and asked if we were even allowed to be there as well as a PP worker who said the sign was not allowed to be in the flower bed. We treated them with respect. The PP worker said he was pro life and we said we would pray that God would provide him with a better job. We did move the sign by the tree on the sidewalk and then when Ginny came she said to put it back.

There was one gentleman who thanked us and said he was there to pray yesterday and a few who said God Bless You and appreciated us being there. Another woman Joan came by and was grateful we were there and she took some pamphlets and information and one of the little babies and thanked us. A woman by the name of Michelle stopped by and talked for a long time. Katie gave her some information. Michelle had an abortion 19 years ago and regrets it but now has two daughters 8 & 6, Julia & Jade. She said they are really bad and she feels like God is punishing her. Katie & I prayed with her and will continue to pray for her. She seemed to have a lot of questions and wanted to talk a lot and I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t stop back.

God blessed us with a beautiful day to pray and I am grateful to be a part of 40 Days For Life.
Thank you all! Blessings, Donna

11-1 pm:

Mary, Jeff , and Katie were on the sidewalk with me today.
The only small problem someone from the city came by and asked us to take our sign out of the planter.
Another lady came by and told us her story when she got pregnant years ago and her boyfriend was upset and he wanted to have an abortion but his mother and her mother didn’t want it eventually he came around and wanted to have a baby so now they are the happy parents of a nine-year-old boy.
They are still together and would like to have another baby but they haven’t been able to. Their son is a blessing from God. It might be the only child they can ever have they also said they found God and they go to church each week. Ginny

1-3 pm:

Beautiful weather and wonderful friends to pray with us. Libby from St. Sebastian and Mary from St. Monica in Beaver Falls kept us company as we prayed away abortion. People passing by were generally nice and with no real negativity. My sister, Rose, brought the last two roses from her garden, beautiful coral ones. Bill from St. Philip parish came and Francis and Rosalina took over. Thanks, Lord, for the sunshine and the Sonshine. Beth S.

3-5 pm:

This is Lauren… She thanked me for standing up… She is so grateful… She was sincere & I wanted to recognize her…

Rosalyn

5-7 pm:

There was a lot of activity this evening. Even though only 2 “Bills” are pictured…there were 3 “Bills” there when I arrived. I did not get a picture of Benson or George, but they also came to pray and witness. It was a beautiful evening and there was a lot of traffic on the sidewalk. A lot of people from the convention were walking past.

Bill and Bill

One man who is a vendor from Atlanta stopped to accept a precious feet pin and to chat. He said that his family has always been active in the pro-life movement but he has never heard of 40 Days for Life. He will pray for us and may stop by again this week. Bill D helped a man who was stuck without a ride, find a bus route to take him out to Monroeville to meet someone who would take him back home to Bedford. Then some people from the bar came out and gave us some halloween candy!

As always, the baby models were effective in attracting people to see fetal development. Bill H had a lot of interaction with people walking by, the sign he was wearing showing the statistics of people aborted by PP is impactful. I was grateful when Nikki came to offer prayers at the front door on her knees because I found it hard to “formally” pray today with all the activity! Although I know just being there is an offering of prayer. God bless you, Sue
